Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi has warned the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to be very careful around his boss President William Ruto.
Linturi was fired during Ruto’s cabinet reshuffle following Gen Zs protest in 2024, argued that the president is using Kindiki for his political gains, and he will eventually drop him after achieving is goal.
The DCP Party National Organising Secretary was speaking at a church service in Rwarera Meru County, in company of his party leader Rigathi Gachagua, accused the head of state for using leaders from the Mt. Kenya region to advance his politics, and later leave them out.
“Na wewe mtu anaitwa Kindiki, sababu kazi yako ni kutumika na huyu mtu, na mimi nimekuambia na kukuelezea, atakutumia na atakuwacha, elewa kwangu kwa sababu nilimjua mbele yako. So for him to turn faces is not a big deal, because he did the same to us,” Linturi remarked.
Giving his ouster and that of former Attorney General Justin Muturi as an example, as well as that of Gachagua, Linturi cautioned the DP who the president has praised for being loyal and a worker to be very careful.
Similar sentiments were held Cleophas Malala, who said Kindiki has been reduced to distributing money in harambees every Sunday and empowerment across the country, abandoning his duties as DPs. According to Malala the president is using him, as he has negotiated that he will have a DP from Luhya community in 2027.
“Unatumiwa vibaya kuleta fujo, kupiga ndugu yake, stop being used. William Ruto has negotiated with leaders from Western that they will have a DP in 2027, so stop wasting your time, they are using you. A whole DP being reduced to distribute money in sacks in empowerment programs, leaving your duties? Wacha kutimika bwana,” Malala added.
The fired CS further added that the biggest mistake he made was to betray the region, and failing to fulfil the economic development promises he signed to bring to the people of Meru. He said that their neglected votes will ensure he serves only one term.
“The problem wewe Ruto Umefanya ni kutusaliti, cost us a lot of pain, because the promised you told us you will do for the Meru and Gema people you have not done. We went round writing economic forums as what we agreed upon, not going to Karen and State House to write what we need. The 400,000 votes we gave you forget about it, and understand that our vote is going to a basket that will make you a one term president,” he further added.
