Saboti legislator Caleb Amisi has thrown a jab to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for failing to champion development in Western Region despite being in power for over 40 years.
Speaking in Kabuchai Constituency on Sunday during an economic empowerment drive led by area MP Majimbo Kalasinga, Amisi asked the two most senior leaders from the region to resign.
“We have seen our region remain behind because fronted weak leaders as a community. Once you are given 40 years to serve the community and you have failed to deliver, you need to go home,” Amisi remarked.
Similar sentiments were held by Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya and Senator Boni Khalwale, who said the region continues to languish in poverty, despite having leaders at top positions, and voting for the leaders of the day, which has set a rift between them.
Amisi further lauded Kalasinga and his counterpart from Bumula Wamboka Wanami, for ditching leaders whom he described lack respect for the people, and always standing firm on their principles, to deliver mandate given to them by the people.
“It takes a century to find a leader who is principled, firm and can stand on his own. I want to thank the people of Kabuchai and Bumula for sending us brave leaders to the National Assembly. We are elected and not nominated. I want to thank Majimbo for ditching leaders with no interest and respect for the people. They stand with what is right and with the people,” he further stated.
Visibly annoyed by the conduct of President William Ruto’s personal assistant Farouk Kibet, Amisi called out Kibet for disregarding youthful leaders from the region, whom he claimed has been send to intimidate emerging young voices from the Luhya community.
“Farouk has ametumwa kunyanyasa vijana wa Western, the region has no deficiency of leaders, do not disrespect the leaders from the region. We also have money!” Amisi stated.
The ODM legislator further added the region will not condone leadership that kills its own people, and the young voices in the streets for demanding better leadership and governance in the country.
He boldly reminded the Kenya kwanza government that the emerging youthful political leaders from the region will not be intimidated or cowardice from demanding better leadership and restoration of the country’s broken foreign ties.
