Gatundu North lawmaker Elijah Kururia has raised questions on working relationship between former prime minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto in uncertain future of the Broad-Based government.
According to him, the recent remarks by allies of Odinga raises eyebrows, in what he insinuated a foul play aimed at the president.
Making reference to recent remarks made by National Treasury CS John Mbadi on the government being unable to sustain the dream of former president Mwai Kibaki free education. Mbadi said that the financial burden of free education cannot be met by the budget.
Howver, during a church service in Kariobangi on Sunday, President William Ruto reaffirmed that the government is not only committed that children access education, but also quality, as it is the best gift that can be accorded to the young populace.
On the other hand, Kururia worried by the remarks of Nairobi Senator and ODM SG Edwin Sifuna, who declared the working MOU between UDA and ODM dead, following the death of X blogger Albert Ojwang’ at Central Police Station in June.
“Observing the utterances from CS Mbadi, Sifuna, Babu, Orengo and friends, Raila Odinga anacheza William Sameoi Ruto. Ruto be aware,” Kururia said.
The ODM team has been making contradicting remarks that threaten the unite of purpose between the two parties, despite key leaders from both parties emphasizing that they fully back their leaders working agreement, the lukewarm however in ODM speaks otherwise.
Senator Samson Cherargei faulted Sifuna for misleading the country, emphasizing that Broad-Based government is working very well, arguing that Sifuna is bitter because he was no appointed into Cabinet, after his colleagues were appointed.
Additionally, Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda, called on expulsion and resignation of Sifuna from the party, for betraying the agreement, addressing the death of the MOU in the day and criticising it over night.
On Saturday, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi alleged that Sifuna has been opposing the Broad-based government because he was denied KSh 300 million he demanded in order to support the unity between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.
He further accused Sifuna of enhancing political brokering, reaffirming the strong unity between the two leaders. He asked Sifuna to join former DP Rigathi Gachagua, as he prospers in politics of brokering and division.
