Nyaribari Chache legislator Zaheer Jhanda has called on leaders of the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) to call for the resignation or expulsion of its Secretary General Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Jhanda has accused Sifuna of sabotaging the working agreement between United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM, under the Joint Framework 10 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
He described further stated that Sifuna is propagating political conmanship, and challenged him to run against President William Ruto, if he has a better alternative than Ruto.
“Must resign or be expelled from ODM. You cannot dine at the table of unity by day and sharpen swords of sabotage by night. That’s political conmanship. If you think you have Better ideas than H.E President William Ruto, run against him. Enough of the double speak from ODM,” Jhada stated.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Sifuna declared the working agreement on UDA-ODM dead. According to Sifuna, the deal ended after the death of X blogger Albert Ojwang’ at Central Police Station.
He emphasized the party lost its course after entering into Broad-Based Government, which he was against from the beginning, remarks that earlier contradicted the stand of Raila Odinga.
The sentiments irking National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi chastised Sifuna for making divisive remarks and urged him to respect the party’s leadership.
“Between the Party Leader and the Secretary General, whose decision is final?” Mbadi questioned.
Sifuna’s remarks sparkling debate from ODM supporters, including the Odinga’s diehard fan Calvin Gaucho famously known as the Ghetto President, slammed Sifuna of talking too much yet he is not the custodian of the party, with no followers. He urged Sifuna to remember that the party belongs to the Luo, and he should understand his place.
Gaucho dared the vocal Senator to quit ODM, and vie for any political seat with a party of his choice and see if he can clinch an without the support of ODM. He advised Sifuna that the party only takes instructions from Odinga.
