MPs demand’s a report on the existing KIEMS kits before approving IEBC’s budget.
MPs have demanded a report on the status of 45,000 existing KIEMS kits before approving IEBC’s Ksh6.7B budget for new ones.
This comes as IEBC seeks Ksh61B for the 2027 elections, including funds for voter registration, boundary delimitation, and logistics.
JLAC, led by MP George Murugara, gave IEBC three months to submit an expert assessment on their usability.
The commission needs 59,352 kits, estimating replacement costs at Ksh7B. MPs want accountability before allocating funds.
