The incident make an addition to the unspontaneous unrest among high schools in the country. On Saturday, angry students from Jera Mixed Secondary School in Siaya County took to the streets to calling out the school principal over an alleged food shortage.
They held a peaceful demonstration to protest against the head teacher, whom they accused of mismanaging the institution.
According to a section of the student, they have been feeding on ugali and soup from Thursday, and hot water without sugar in the morning, which led to the demonstration and indefinite close of the institution. The student also accused the principal for failing to listen to them and frequent absenteeism and called for his transfer.
