Former North Horr legislator and 2022 gubernatorial aspirant Chachu Ganya has called on residents of Dukana and North Horr wards to maintain and promote peace in the region.
Ganya called on the government to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act that led to the death of the four residents are brought to book.
Speaking during an interview after a series of peace meetings, Ganya called on residents to continue to live in peace, as the government continues with investigations.
He further recommended that security agency, peace stakeholders and other NGOs in the county to organize more peace gathering in the constituency between the two conflicting communities to find a long lasting solution.
“My call is to the government to ensure that all criminals have been arrested and charged. I urge the people of Dukana to live in peace and have patience as we look for a lasting solution to the conflict,” Ganya pleaded.
He also called on the government to investigate and establish the root cause of the frequent conflict in the area, and a possible solution to resolve the conflict.
“Investigations need to be done to understand the cause of these conflicts and enmity to find a lasting solution with urgency, to bring a peaceful environment between the Gabbra and Wayu community, as the criminals only kill and leave without taking the possessions of their victims,” he stated.
The former legislator said the situations is worrying, and urged the elders from the two communities Gabbra and Wayu, to collaborate with security agencies to allow for dialogue that can bring cohesion between the two communities.
“It is very sad that our people, who have been living in peace since time memorial, are now killing each other. This situation requires immediate solution; let our elders from the two communities to come together with our officers to find a way to end the conflict,” Ganya recommended.
His calls come as leaders in the region have urged residents of Dukana and North Horr Sub-Counties to maintain peace, in order for the region to attract investments and development
