Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i presidential bid received a major boost, after youths from Luo Nyanza threw their support behind Matiang’i.
While addressing the media on Monday, June 2, the youths said that they believe in the candidature of Matiang’i, following the leadership crisis in the country, as well as loss of public trust towards the government, which can bring about disciplined and effective leadership in the country.
According to them, the current leadership has become arrogant, citing the June 25, 2024 Gen Z led protest that not only fought for the rejection of the bill but also demanded good good leadership, and how they want to be lead.
“The nation is crying out for not just for change, but bold disciplined and effective leadership. That is why as we the Nyanza Youths for Matiang’i are publicly declaring our unwavering support for Matiang’i presidential bid in 2027,” said on e of the youths.
Citing the track record of Matiang’i during his ministerial duties, the youths highlighted the move from analogue to digital, that has empowered them the restoration of dignity, fairness and order in the ministry of education, as well as protecting the country with firm, principled leadership in the ministry of interior.
However, one of the youths clarified that their support is not to intimidate the region’s known political background, but a sign of closure from blind loyalty, and attracting results, further stating that Matiang’i their leader is not a regional leader, but has exhibited qualities and value of a national leader.
“Supporting Matiang’i is not a departure from our region proud political history, it is a continuation that a time has come to end blind loyalty and accept change for results. He is not only our neighbours but also treated the region with dignity and show aspects of a national leader.
The youths further called on their colleagues to shun divisive politics, and join the Matiang’i train that has show inclusivity and ready to deliver to the people of Kenya.
Echoing the sentiments of his colleagues, Felix Ombija added that they are going to do a door-to-door mobilization campaign in Luo Nyanza to rally the residents behind Matiang’i, despite the known theatrics of known politicians, calling theirs audacity of hope.
