Energy and Petroleum CS Opiy Wandayi has slammed the opposition over their plans to take over power through unconstitutional and shortcut means, and overthrow the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking in Migori on Sunday, Wandayi warned the opposition fraction against their plan and urged them to wait for 2027 General elections.
He further accused Gachagua and his allies for being the ones being behind the Gen Z led protests in the country, stating that their plan will not succeed and should patiently wait for the ballot in 2027.
“The protest was not by the youth, it was by leaders desiring to take leadership. They are hiding behind other people’s children. We warn them to stop that behaviour. They should wait for next elections,” Wandayi said.
Wandayi called on critics of President William Ruto to go slow as the country’s electoral commission Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has fully been constructed, and should start aligning their agenda.
He received a backing from Mugirango South MP Silvanus Osoro, said that leaders from Kenya Kwanza fully support the calls for a National Conclave by ODM party leader Raila Odinga, to have intergenerational dialogue to find a solution to the issues affecting the country.
However, the opposition fraction had dismissed the calls for National Dialogue, with Gachagua stating that previous dialogues have not brought forth tangible results and it is a plan by Odinga to take up the moment, and termed him as an opportunist, and he is currently irrelevant in the country’s political discourse.
“Raila is totally irrelevant in the political discourse because every election cycle, he loses and finds his way into government. He wants to be in government but doesn’t want responsibility,” Gachagua
Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah slammed Gachagua for dismissing the talks, as he said he was a tribal lord, and has no moral decline the talks, as Osoro further calling on Gachagua to stop attacking Odinga, for he is not equal to the former Prime Minister.
