Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, has asked believers to continue to praying for him, while he continues to receive treatment for severe pneumonia at Gemelli Hospital, Rome.
For the second time in a row, Pope Francis could not pray the Angelus prayer in public, but through a message he wrote a few days ago, he stills have hope due to the treatment he is receiving and that he is carefully following the doctors’ instructions.
In his message issued on Sunday, the Pope expressed his gratitude to the doctors and health workers who are attending to him, as well as to all those who sent him greetings of love and prayers.
“In recent days I have received many messages of love, and I have been very touched by letters and drawings from children,” he wrote. “Thank you for this closeness and prayers to encourage me from every corner of the world! I entrust you all to the intercession of Mary, and I ask you to pray for me.”
Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital on February 14 after he started having breathing problems. Due to his medical history, where he had part of his lung removed at the age of 21, his condition has continued to be treated with great caution.
According to the Vatican statement released on Saturday, the condition of Pope Francis is still complicated. Doctors said that although he is responding to treatment, his condition is fragile and small changes can lead to big challenges. Currently, he continues to use oxygen at a high level and has received blood transfusions due to the problem of low platelets.
In addition, Pope Francis used his message to remind people about the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine and to ask people to pray for peace in the world, especially in conflict areas such as Palestine, Israel, the Middle East, Myanmar, Kivu, and Sudan.
Many believers have continued to gather outside the Gemelli Hospital to pray for him, while the Vatican continues to provide regular information about the progress of his health.
