In the latest review of fuel prices in the country for the month of July released by latest Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) review announced on Monday, July 7, fuel prices increased in price.
Super petrol, diesel, and kerosene prices have gone up by Ksh.8.99, Ksh.8.67 and Ksh.9.65 per litre, respectively, with a see a litre of petrol going for KSh 186.31 in Nairobi, while diesel will sell at KSh 171.58, as kerosene will cost Ksh.156.58 a litre in the capital.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” read the statement by EPRA.
In June, petrol sold at KSh 177. 32, after an increase of KSh 2.69, while diesel retailed at KSh 162. 9, as kerosene was sold at KSh 146.93 per litre.
According to EPRA, the increase was due to increase in landed cost of imported petroleum products to the country, with Super petrol landed cost increasing by 6.45%, diesel by 6.27% and kerosene by 6.95%, between May and June 2025.
“The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 6.45% from $590.24 per cubic metre in May 2025, to $628.30 per cubic metre in June 2025. Diesel increased by 6.27% from $580.23 per cubic metre to $616.59 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 6.95% from $569.00 per cubic metre to $608.34 per cubic metre over the same period,” the report further read.
