Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is set to lead United Democratic Alliance (UDA) campaigns in Malava Constituency in the upcoming by-elections.
Mudavadi will lead the campaign to rally support across the constituency, Malava is one of the constituencies in the Western region with the highest number of votes and politcally active.
On Thursday, Mudavadi met a delegation over 100 elders from 29 clans in Malava, led by Alphose Masinde and Secretary General Harrison Webbo Tanga. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that UDA fields a candidate who embodies the values and aspirations of the people.
“Leadership is not about theatrics or short-term promises. Malava deserves a predictable, consistent, and dependable leader, someone who can be trusted to put the interests of the people first,” Mudavadi asserted.
He told the elders that he remains the patron of Malava, until an MP is elected, urging elders and leaders present to unite and continue building a stronger foundation that was started by the late MP Malulu Injendi, which strived to ensure that development of the area remains a priority.
“Until you elect a new Member of Parliament, I stand as your Patron in Malava. We must move forward together, build on the strong foundation left by our late brother Malulu Injendi, and ensure that the development agenda remains on course,” he emphasized.
During the meeting the elders and leaders submitted a follow-up appeal for the gazettement and operationalization of newly created administrative units in East Kabras and Kabras West Sub-Counties.
THey include; Chesero and Chivanga Divisions; Nguvuli Location; Mukhuyu and Shivagala Sub-Locations in East Kabras; and Shirugu/Mugai Division; Chevoso and Shikutse Locations; Indulusia and Bukhakunga Sub-Locations in Kabras West.
“I am commitment to pursuing these matters and actively engaging with my Cabinet colleagues at the Ministries of Interior & National Administration and Roads & Transport to ensure that these issues are addressed with the urgency and seriousness they deserve,” Mudavadi assured the leaders.
Appealing to the region’s long-standing political maturity, he urged residents to transcend clannism and resist divisive rhetoric, noting that unity of purpose is essential for development.
“Do not let temporary excitement blind you. If you sell your father’s land to buy a trumpet, where will you stand to blow it?” he posed, drawing laughter and applause from the audience,” he stated.
He further recognized the place of culture, but cautioned against allowing clan affiliations to detect the political choices of the area, and emphasizing that the leader elected will be the choice of the people, despite a large number of aspirants.
The elders were accompanied with leaders from across the region including UDA National Vice Chairperson Kelvin Lunani, MPs Fred Ikana and Beatrice Adagala, Principal Secretary Dr. Beatrice Inyangala (Higher Education and Research), Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Joseph Busiega, Immaculate Shamala (Trans Nzoia Women’s Organization).
