Senior Economic Advisor to the President Moses Kuria has said that Mt. Kenya Region was most affected by June 25 Gen Z led protests, which was being marked by the young generation one year after their colleagues were killed in Parliament.
Citing the number of businesses and government offices destroyed and looted in Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga and Murang’a counties, Kuria said that the region has paid the heavy price, thus there will be no elections in 2027.
“Shops Around Koja and OTC looted and vandalized, shops in Roysambu looted and vandalised, Nanas Mall Thika looted and vandalised. Carrefour Ruiru looted and vandalised. Naivas in Nyeri looted and vandalised. All Public institutions in Ol Kalou including police stations, ID Offices, County Commissioners Office and County Government Offices burnt down Mt Kenya paid a disproportionately heavy price yesterday Again. There will be no elections in 2027. I was vindicated yesterday,” Kuria wrote.
His remarks echoing sentiments he made on June, Sunday 22, during an interview, where he claimed that the political hype currently in the country will witness a shocker for so much preparation, yet there will be no elections in 2027.
According to him, consensus is what will determine who will be the next president of Kenya, as it will be decided between plunging the country into similar events witnessed in Rwanda or 2007/08 post election violence, or saving the country.
“The elders will seat down, we have two options to go the Rwanda the way and destroy the nation, or lets agree and honour men and women. The alternative will be to dire to fathom, before taking a decision, there is going to be too much consensus. This election people are imaging is not going to be,” he further explained.
Kuria is known for his controversial remarks, that often brings political tension, or unprecedented happenings in the future. His recent remark that left leaders talking was his move to be the Jubilee Party Secretary General, immediately the Court returned fully custody to former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
