Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has demanded that the Kenya Kwanza Government to fully implement the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, as the solution to end the recently witnessed leadership crisis in the country.
Speaking in Jomvu, Mombasa County during a public participation forum, Odinga clarified that their signed Joint Framework to work with Kenya Kwanza is dependent on the implementation of the report.
He further stated that he will be consulting members of the party to discuss on the issues affecting common mwananchi, including the high cost of living, challenges with Social Health Authority (SHA), forced disappearance and abductions, as well a the stalemate between the National Assembly and the Senate.
“I’m consulting all my party members. We find solutions to the problems affecting the country such as high cost of living, the Social Health Authority problems, abductions and devolution struggles and these are the things we want the government to address,” Raila stated.
According to Odinga, the report highlights critical issues happening currently in the country, include the issues raised by Gen Zs. He warned that failure to implement the NADCO report will hurt the nation more, which will affect the stability of the station.
“NADCO report contains many issues, which are at the heart of the people of Kenya today. If you see the issues raised by our youths, most of them are contained in the NADCO report,” Odinga said.
The report resulted in the 2023 post election violence with key recommendations included the auditing of 2022 election, restructuring the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), extending Supreme Court petition deadlines, creating new political offices, and allocating more resources to counties.
On March 7, ODM further signed a Joint Framework Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with a 10 point agenda, that further echoes a number of recommendations in the NADCO report including the increasingly worrying pattern of police brutality in the country.
