Isiolo County Governor Abdi Guyo has received a reprieve, after Isiolo High Court issued conservatory orders stopping the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to debate his impeachment motion that was set for June, Tuesday 17.
In a ruling made on June, Monday 16 by Justice Nyagah Mbogo, the MCAs are not allowed to table the motion until June 30, when the matter will be mention for further direction.
In his ruling , Mbogo directed that the case is a matter of urgency, and the the application to be served to the Isiolo County Assembly before tomorrow Tuesday 17.
“Pending the hearing and determination of this application inter parte, a conservatory order is hereby issued restraining, barring or preventing the respondents either by themselves or their agents of admitting, processing, debating or considering in any manner whatsoever the notice of Motion dated June, 13, 2025, for proposed removal of the Governor of Isiolo County by impeachment and intended to be debated on Tuesday, 17 June or any other day the respondent may set,” Mbogo ruled.
Mbogo further directed that the case will be mentioned on June 30, 2025, further directions to be issued regarding the matter.
MCAs from Isiolo led by GarbaTulla MCA Diba Abdirashid and Meja Golicha of Chari, accused governor Guyo for using intimidation towards MCAs in the county, after the approval of debating is impeachment motion, which was approved by 3/4 of MCAs.
They however said that they will not by the intimidation tricks, as the Guyo has misused county funds for three years, and they are determined to send him home.
They further clarified that the impeachment motion is not ill intended towards the governor, as his acts have prompted them to act on powers given to them by the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
“We will use the powers given to us by the Constitution of Kenya, we will do our work, and will not allow anybody to scare us. I would also like to tell our two colleagues not to accept to be used to fight us. We are doing our duties to the people, not because of a few individuals . We do not have any ill intentions with the governor,” Abdirashid clarified
