The country has been thrown into a campaign mood with accusations and counter-accusations. While addressing the nation on Wednesday former Deputy President and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua accused President William of using terror charges and profiling of Kikuyu community.
According to him, the president used the same tactic of profiling the Kikuyus community in the 2007 Post Election violence, and is on the end tail of his mission during his reign as the president.
“History is repeating itself, and the architect William Ruto is back on the deck. He is hell bent to finish his unfinished business with the people of Mt. Kenya. Destroy their businesses and make them black sheep of Kenya,” Gachagua claimed.
Gachagua said that the plan by Ruto in profiling the community by destroying their businesses as witnessed during the recent protests in the country, citing the massive destruction of business premises in Mt. Kenya region during historical Saba Saba Day commemoration.
He further decried impartial application of justice, as leaders and people from Mt. Kenya are being charged with terrorism for destruction of properties, while in other regions they are being charged with destruction of property.
“When a police station in Mawego (Homa Bay) was torched, suspects were charged with arson. But when a police station is torched in Kiambu suspects from the Kikuyu nation are charged with terrorism,” he said.
His close ally Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji is facing terrorism charges, following allegations of financing and protests in Embu County, as well as other two leaders from DCP party.
During his presser, Gachagua further raised alarming allegations of State formed and well-organised militia group that was tasked to kill, loot, destroy and terrorize Kikuyu businesses during the Monday, July 7 protests, which he claimed were dropped by orders from the head of state and governors from the region supporting him.
He further dragged National Intelligence Service (NIS), in the mess, claiming that the country’s intelligent system General Noordin Haji in charge of 101 killer squad that receive directions from him armed and uses Subarus to move around.
“NIS has procured Subarus to give an impression that it is the DCI shooting and maiming. This squad of 101 people was formed when I was still in government. Officers were recruited from the administration police unit for special training by NIS on abductions, killings and cover ups,” Gachagua alleged.
