Former Deputy President and Democratic Citizen’s Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, has slammed members of parliament from Mt. Kenya region, for failing to see how they are being misused by President William Ruto against their youths.
He further slammed the MPs for failing to understand that President William Ruto is using them to use their youths to throw stones at leaders, while youths in his region are being employed in the National Police Service (NPS), the Army, flown outside the country, and National Youth Service (NYS), as their youths continue to languish in alcohol.
“William Ruto vijana ya kwao anapeleka polisi, anapeleka jeshi, wengine wanapelekwa Australia, to NYS and KRA. Our young men he is giving you money to come and throw stones, how foolish are you members of parliament from this region? William Ruto is laughing at you. Our youths are being paid to throw stones and afterwards go and drink alcohol,” Gachagua remarked.
He further said that the leaders will go down in the history of the region, as the most embarrassing leaders in the region. He faulted them for failing to have a mind of their own, and blindly execute the orders given to them by the president.
“When the history of this community is written, the members of parliament from this community will have a whole chapter of the most foolish leader ever elected in the Mt. Kenya region. Mkiambiwa mpitishe Finance Bill hata kama ni mbaya mnasema yes sir, endeni mrushe mawe kwa kanisa mnaenda, endeni mtoe DP mnafurusha. You are an embarrassment to this community,” he further remarked.
Gachagua was speaking during a church service in AIPCA Gatumbi in Lari Constituency Kiambu County on Sunday, June 1.
Additionally during the service, Gachagua supported the calls by ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who in his Madaraka Day speech at Raila Odinga Stadium, asked the Kenya Kwanza government to compensate the victims of 2023 demonstrations, and the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protest led by Gen Zs, that left a number of them dead and injured.
Gachagua termed Raila’s remarks as noble, as he said that will complete the calls for forgiveness by leaders from the youths made during the National Prayer Breakfast. However, Ruto in his speech did not mention anything, but went ahead and outlined the achievements of his government.
