Former Deputy President and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has urged Gen Zs to hold on protests and strategize on their next cause of action.
Speaking at a church service in Seattle US on Sunday, Gachagua said that the new youthful political wing is crucial to bring the desired change in the country, and that cautioned them against going to the streets, as there is an existing directive to shoot them.
According to him, the Gen Zs should seat back and reconsider their strategy, as they need them to fully effect their plan of ousting President William Ruto, stating that holding on protests should not be taken as a form of cowardice, but plan to make things right in their next call of action.
“I have made a special appeal to the Gen Zs, we need you around to effect this change, and you cannot effect this when you are dead or shot in the leg and you are crippled, I have asked the Gen Zs now to stop it; they have made their point, because if they go to the streets the order to kill them are already out,” he explained.
“We want these children to live and also enjoy the change they desire, they cannot do it when they are dead. I’m making a special appeal to the Gen Zs, please don’t mistake it to be cowardice, it is just being strategic. A good soldier must live to fight another day. Gen Z is the group of people we need to make that change,” Gachagua added.
The former DP further refuted claims by Ruto’s allies that he is planning a coup to oust Kenya Kwanza government, arguing that nobody is interested in taking Ruto out power unconstitutionally, but will want to humiliate him at the ballot in 2027 General Elections.
“We want change, but nobody wants change unconstitutionally, nobody wants to overthrow the government, nobody wants to do that it is not necessary. We want change through the ballot in August 2027,” DCP leader said.
