Speaking in an interview on Tuesday evening, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has accused the government for disregarding and violating the Constitution, and leading the country in the manner he described that it will go down as the worst government in history.
He further accused the President William Ruto led administration for failing to respect human life, arguing that Kenya Kwanza government was killing people and further failing to listen to the people.
“This government is not upholding the Constitution, it is killing people, it does not listen to the people. This is the worst possible government if you go back to the spirit of the Constitution 2010. This is the worst possible government we have envisage, they are doing the opposite!” Sifuna remarked.
He further stated that the government intimidation towards the opposition calling for him to serve one-term (Wantam), is their main agenda, bullying them for lacking an agenda for the people. Sifuna in rare show, stated that removal of Ruto from office is currently a national agenda.
According to Sifuna, the growing resentment by Kenyans towards the Head of State is the unifying factor among Kenyans to ensure that he exits office in 2027 General elections.
“I want William Ruto to know that his removal from office is a national priority agenda. It is the only agenda because his government is totally opposed to what the Constitution stands for. I want these people to be bold not tp be bullied and push you to a corner where you are discussing markets. In my ranking removing Ruto is top than dualling the road to Malaba,” Sifuna said.
Sifuna further dismissed the claims that the party took advantage of the Geb Z protests in June 2024 anti-government protests, which led to the formation of the Broad-Based government terming it is unfair.
He defended his leader former Prime Minister, whom he said the narrative is to paint him as an opportunist and shunning his status quo of Odinga.
“The accusation that we took advantage of anyone is unfair. Baba has been on record that he was against these individual members joining the government. The idea at that time was to have a conversation with William Ruto to have a transitional mechanism that would restore the country back to the people,” Sifuna explained.
He also joined his colleagues in the party to drumming support for Intergenerational conclave proposed by Odinga, further accepting the dismissal by a majority of Kenyans on dialogue, as previous dialogues have not yielded anything tangible, bur urged the call for talks as it reduces tension between people.
“Are we treating other generations fairly and equitably? Baba is asking how do you get all of us to talk. We need to have a conversation that should be binding for all of us,” he said.
The opposition and the church have expressed their dissatisfaction on calls for national conclave, as the previous two NADCO report and 10 point agenda MOU have not been implemented.
