Isiolo County Senator Fatuma Dullo has called for the removal of the County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding over the raising cases of insecurity in the county.
Speaking during Senate sitting on Wednesday, Dullo said that Omoding has stayed in the County for eight years and failed to address the challenge of growing insecurity in the area since taking office.
Further lamenting, Dullo said that if action is not taken and Omoding transferred, the will of the people shall prevail and remove him, if the current situation continues to be witnessed.
“Isiolo county commissioner has stayed for 8 years. There is so much insecurity, and he’s doing nothing. If the government won’t remove him, the will of the people will prevail,” Dullo ssaid.
Dullo further called on National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Noordin Haji, to investigate on the insecurity case of Isiolo, and the Ministry of Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and PS Raymond Omollo to act on their earlier discussion.
Her remarks coming hours after a family of five people, a mother, her three children and a cousin aged between 7-15 years were torched to death in their home at Kachewa area in Bulla Pesa area, on Tuesday night in a suspected love triangle.
With preliminary reports indicating that the suspect who was lynched, burnt to death and her house also torched, had threatened the decease three days ago. However, security officials called on residents to remain calm as investigations into the matter begin.
Earlier after Governor Abdi Guyo survived impeachment at the Senate, Dullo had raised concerns of growing insecurity in the country, further highlighting the death of the five which she further says has raised tension in the area.
She further talked of the leadership crisis at the County Assembly of Isiolo, as two speakers former Isiolo South MP Jaldesa Banticha and incumbent speaker Mohamed Roba continue to fight over being the head of the Chambers.
“I talked about insecurity in Isiolo after the impeachment of the governor, today there are two speakers fighting in the Assembly of Isiolo. Where is the law?” she questioned.
Tension in the county remains high, with political in fights threatening peace, over divided sections between the governor and his critics.
