The Nairobi county government will build a new market in the South B area of Nairobi county, to get rid of vendors who have been doing their business on the side of the road.
The construction of the market is expected to cost more than 350 million shillings.
Addressing traders in the area, the representative of the South B ward, Waithera Chege said that the action aims to deal with the challenges of accidents involving vendors who have been developing their businesses along the roads side.
Chege has also added that it is necessary for the businessmen to have a better environment in order to improve their lives economically.
On his part, the director of the marketing department in Nairobi County, David Githaiga has said that the county government has already issued a notice for the construction of the market to the traders while the chairman of the traders, James Maina, applauded the move. He says that a large number of traders in the area, have lost their lives after being hit by cars and motorbikes, while doing their business.
