The US government has asked public employees to list their achievements for the past week or quit, a move seen as an effort by the Trump administration to reduce the size of government ‘s employees.
The order came shortly after Elon Musk, Trump’s adviser and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), wrote on X platform that employees would receive emails asking about their jobs.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) confirmed the legitimacy of the email, saying it was part of a strategy to bring accountability to government operations.
However, the move has been criticized by the union of government workers, describing it as cruel and disrespectful.
Trump has praised Musk’s efforts to reduce government spending, saying the goal is to retain only the best employees.
