In what could further escalate the rift between President William Ruto and DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua is his recent sentiments about his negligence of Meru resident.
In his media interview on Friday, Gachagua said that the president is trying to divide the community by shifting and promising seats to the community that are non-existence. According to him, the region has had for the longest time two positions in the cabinet, a move Ruto is challenging to bring conflict among communities.

He further faulted the head of state for trying to bring tension among the people of Igembe and Imenti, by trying to swap their seats, which Gachagua said it is his plan to divide the two communities.
He disclosed that the President had reached out to former Agriculture CS Peter Munya to replace fired CS Mithika Linturi, an incident that would bring tension in the area, between the two communities.
“We know you tried reaching out to Munya to take the position of Linturi, apiganishe watigania na waigembe, na hiyo ndio kazi ya William Ruto. Kupiganisha jamii, ya kupiganisha watu na hiyo hatutakubali,” he further added.
He said that for him to redeem the trust of Meru people, he should retain Engineer Erick Mureithi, and take Senator Kathure Murungi, who youths have been championing to be appointed by President William Ruto to the Ministry of Agriculture. as reward to those who voted for him in the 2022 general elections.
