The war of words between two former political allies President William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has intensified in the recent days, with the back to back responses.
The two currently in Meru County, have taken the region to respond to each others remarks, which was started by Gachagua, after he claimed that Ruto falsely accused him of acquiring a piece of land in the county, and further play a role on his impeachment by Senate in 2024.
Gachagua has vowed to ensure that the president does not secure a second term, stating that he has crippled development in the region, aided by leaders who obediently serve him, and not serving the people who elected them.
In a fierce response to his former deputy while addressing farmers at Dairy Farmers Field Day 2025, Meru ASK Showground, Ruto said that he cannot be intimidated with people who have no agenda to move the country forward, with their only agenda Ruto Must Go.
“Na mimi nataka niwaeleze, mimi nimekuwa kwa siasa miaka mingi, na mimi vitisho siwezi kutishwa na mtu, ati kutishwa? Hapana watafute mtu mwingine,” Ruto remarked.
Smoothing the way after Gachagua told the residents that he has neglected the region, Defended himself arguing that he dropped his DP for too much propaganda and politics without delivering. He bold remarked that he will only work with those with his agenda at heart.
“Ati na makelele tu ndio wache hii kazi tunafanya tuende kwa barabara. Watu wa Meru si kura yenu ndio iliunda hii serikali? Mnataka hii serikali iwafanyie kazi ama ifanyie watu wengine? That’s why I have said, anyone ready to work, I will work with him, while the one who wants to continue with politics to hit the road and continue with politics,” he further added.
The head of state further pouring cold water to the early campaigns by the opposition, stating that they bring no difference, as he ahs been in politics for a while, and he will deal with them in 2027, but for now, his main agenda is to transform the nation through development.
“Si 2027 tutakutana na wao? Kwani ni mafundi kiasi gani, wasituletee nani porojo propaganda tu, watu hawana mpango ukiwauliza wewe mpango yako kwa wakulima ni gani, ama watoto wetu kusoma, anasema kasongo Ruto must go tutafuatana na watu wenye hawana mpango,” Ruto responded.
Ruto had earlier said that he is not interested in the next election but on how to transform Kenya, calling on his cabinet to help him actualize the promises he made to Kenyans during campaigns in 2022.
