After days of ‘cold war’ and no show in public places, Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor (DG) Philomena Bineah Kapkory has defended her decision to support President William following harsh criticism from members of the public, for betraying her boss Governor George Natembeya.
During an empowerment program at Kipkeikei Boys’ High School in Cherangani Constituency last week Thursday, led by Deputy President and a delegation of leaders from the Kenya Kwanza government, Kapkory declared her support for the Kenya Kwanza administration, which left many puzzled.
“Whenever a leader of the such stature of the deputy president comes around, it is my right to go listen to what the government has in place for us. We could be young in politics, but we know that our opinion counts,” she clarified.
Speaking at Kipsagam village in Saboti constituency, the DG defended her decision, noting that it was within her constitutional right to hold a contrary opinion to that of the county boss .
She further explained that her support should not be interpreted as betrayal, stating that her decision to join the empowerment program was a personal decision of her right to association.
Governor George Natembeya has been a frequent critic of Ruto’s administration, with Kapkory’s unannounced decision raising questions of their relation with Natembeya.
“Just like any other Kenyan, I have my opinion, and I have heard some people say I have betrayed some people. My friends, that is not betrayal; I am merely exercising my constitutional right,” Kapkory said.
Kaprory who has been missing on the public six for over five months, urged residents of Trans Nzoia to carefully scrutinize all aspirants in 2027 before casting their votes for them in the 2027 General Elections.
She further appealed to parents of the Gen Zs across the country to talk to their children, to allow President William Ruto deliver his promises to the people, and declared her support for Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
