Following dramatic raid at Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya home in Milimani Kitale, two people were arrested with tyres believed to be from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) vehicles, Natembeya’s allies claim that the three are close associates of Kiminini lawmaker Maurice Bissau.
According to former Motosiet Member of County Assembly (MCA) Bernard Liangana, the three suspects Nickson Mutuku, Jacob Wekesa and Kevin Wasike found in possession of the stolen tyres in Kiminini last week, are thugs and close allies of Bissau.
“Our government should be truthful, the other day allies of Governor George Natembeya were arrested because we destroyed cars belonging to EACC, yet those arrested and arraigned in court are close allies of Maurice Bissau were caught with the tyres from the cars,” Liangana stated.
Confirming their arrest, John Onditi, Kiminini Sub-County Police Commander, stated that the three suspects were arrested in a rental house within Kiminini market. Onditi confirmed that the arrest followed a thorough investigation that had been carried out for weeks.
Further echoing the sentiments of Liangana, Hospital Ward MCA Eric Wanyama stated that the suspects associated with his area Member of Parliament (MP) are required to pay a fine of KSh 1 million, for the court to release them, further cautioning residents of Kiminini Constituency not to give him another term, following his association with the suspects.
“They wanted governor to be arrested, but today Bissau and his goons were fined KSh 1 million. I want to Bissau that come 2027, we must take him home, he is a Wantam MP!” Wanyama remarked.
Wanyama further faulted top Luhya leaders in government including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on their leadership that has not helped the people of Western region, stating that the will not secure another opportunity come 2027.
He further cautioned Bungoma senator David Wakoli to keep off governor Natembeya, as he is not his political equal, after he threatened to deal with the governor when he appears before the Senate Agriculture Committee, which flopped on him.
The two leaders further reinforcing that Natembeya is the current reigning Kingpin of the Luhya Community, after Wetang;ula and Mudavadi failed to articulate the issues of the community, despite being in government for long.
