Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County has become prone to desperate Kenyans seeking jobs being dupped for job opportunities abroad.
In the bid to cushion innocent Kenyans, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared war on rogue agencies and fake agents coning Kenyans.
While addressing residents in Eldoret town on Wednesday in his tour of Jukwaa La Usalama Uasin Gishu County Edition, Murkomen that he will not let his guard down in fighting those swindling thousands of money from youths to secure them jobs.
He said that the perpetrators will be wiped out without mercy in the next two weeks, as directed by President William Ruto, and no one will be spared because of orders from their godfathers.
Murkomen further warned police officers protecting the rogue agents against action being taken, risk losing their jobs for being involved in shielding conmen.
His remarks coming a week after Labour CS Dr. Alfred Mutua directed 89 recruitment agencies flagged by Kenyans to appear before the Directorate of Criminal investigation (DCI), in the recent crackdown against fraudulent activities.
Mutua listed the agencies alongside complainants, who are victims of frauds to the recruitment agencies. He said that a number of cases have been recorded, complaining about fraud with the agencies, which have not been registered by government.
“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection through the Multi-Agency Response Team has recorded dozens of formal complaints from Kenyan citizens who have been defrauded, misled, or exploited by unregistered and unlicensed actors,” Mutua stated.
Mutua said that Kenyans have a right to a decent job and dignified working environment even abroad, and the government shall ensure that they create that, urging Kenyans to continue reporting any suspicious recruitment agencies for government to take further action against them.
