Nyayo Stadium will open its doors on 24 March 2026.
Kenya National Football team Harambee Stars will be able to play their home matches after the Nyayo Stadium opens its doors ready to host the World Cup qualifying match in 2026 against Gabon on 24 March.
Following poor pitches, Kenya was forced to play its home matches away from home, playing its last home match on September 12 last year against South Sudan.
Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums will also be used to host the 2027 CHAN and AFCON championships.
Elsewhere, former Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla, may return to play local football, with rumours that he is on the verge of joining Shabana FC.
Omalla left Kogalo in August last year and joined the AL Safari club that participates in the Lebanese Premier League, getting little time on the field during his five months with the club.
The former Western Stima player won the golden boot in two consecutive seasons, scoring 26 goals in the 2022/2023 season and 19 goals in the 2023/2024 season.
